Our arched pedestrian bridges have guardrails that parallel the superstructure, providing an elegant design unmatched in the industry today. It is this arched profile that enables our bridges to be both multifunctional and beautiful at the same time.
We have constructed bridges that span up to 30 feet, but have the structural engineering support and ability to go further. Options for pier locations, and the ability to construct a series of single span bridges allow us to install these durable bridges in almost any location.
All of our bridges are fabricated by qualified craftsmen in our shop, and come fully assembled. We use only top quality, weather resistant materials throughout. Premium grade cedar covers these all wooden superstructures. Our cedar guard rails come in several basic designs, or we can create that special design that you are looking for.
These cedar bridges can be left unfinished so that they age to a soft weathered gray, clear coated to maintain their natural beauty, or stained to match your deck of house.
Although engineered to support up to 12,000 pounds, our bridges are intended to be used for pedestrian traffic. Therefore, our overall deck width has a standard dimension of 5 feet. However, a significant cost savings can be realized if a 3 foot wide deck is used. This is because the superstructure can then be constructed by incorporating only two beams in lieu of the standard three beam system.
Reinforced concrete piers or abutments are recommended to be used to support our heavy duty bridges. Required depths and profiles for these members vary upon geographical locations and soil conditions. However, most applications only require piers that can be easily constructed. Properly designed foundation adds even greater weight support capabilities.
Corrosion resistant anchor bolts within the supporting concrete are recommended to be used to support our bridges. These wooden bridges typically are connected to the pre-installed concrete using a coated structural steel boot system that we provide. A thin grout bed is used between the steel and the concrete to provide uniform support by the concrete.
